MinJung Kang
 
Violinist MinJung Kang has appeared throughout Asia, North America and Europe. In addition to appearances in television features and a documentary film in South Korea, her live and recorded radio performances have been broadcast in many other countries.

Ms. Kang is the member of the Morpheus Piano Trio with Cellist Uwe Hirth-Schmidt and Pianist Alessandro Cappella and has collaborated with leaders of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Peabody Trio and the Tokyo String Quartet. She has won many first prizes and top prizes including the ARD, Munich- Taipei-, Postacchini-, Dong-A- and the Concert Artists Guild New York- competitions. Ms. Kang is the recipient of the Wun-Pa Music Prize and the Sydney Friedberg Prize and as the Instrumentalist of the Year.

Born in Seoul, ms. Kang began her violin studies at age six and continued with Nam-Yun Kim, Ik-Hwan Bae and Sung-Ju Lee. She earned Master’s and Artist Diploma degrees at the Peabody Conservatory of Music under Victor Danchenko. Currently, she is an assistant concertmaster at the Berlin Komische Opera Orchestra and teaching at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover, Germany, where she studied in the Soloklassen with Krzysztof Wegrzyn. Herman Krebbers and Ana Chumachenco are among Ms. Kang’s most influential mentors.
