Thomas Hewitt Jones
 
Thomas Hewitt Jones studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and at Dulwich College before becoming Junior Organ Scholar at Caius College in October 2003, and his organ teachers have included Martin Baker and Ann Elise Smoot (director of the St Giles Junior Organ Conservatoire). Thomas recently played the organ part of Mahler's Eighth Symphony with Sir Simon Rattle and the National Youth Orchestra at the Birmingham Symphony Hall and in the BBC Proms, and he has given many recitals in the UK at venues including Gloucester, Winchester and Chester Cathedrals.

Thomas is currently studying composition with Paul Patterson, and his previous teachers include David McBride, Timothy Blinko and Avril Anderson. His works have been heard in public concerts all over the country, and he has had several pieces broadcast on BBC Radio and television. London performances have included the premiere of his Organ Concerto at St John’s, Smith Square in 2002, and several performances of his compositions on the South Bank. Thomas has worked with ensembles such as The Britten Sinfonia, Sounds Positive, and members of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, and he was recently the Senior Winner of the BBC Proms / Guardian Young Composer Competition.

In his spare time, Thomas also plays the 'cello, and he recently gave a performance of the Brahms Double Concerto, in Cambridge.
