Trevor Stephenson
Trevor Stephenson, harpsichord
Music by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, Josquin and Rameau
After hearing a performance of Mozart's piano sonatas on a fortepiano as a graduate student, Trevor Stephenson began an exhaustive exploration of the different expressive and tonal possibilities of historical keyboard instruments. Working with Norman Sheppard, he began building and customizing his own historical instruments. His program features works performed on an instrument modeled after the 1679 Couchet harpsichord in the Smithsonian's collection.
