Different Strokes
A Very Unusual Jazz Duo
Beth Snellings, 'cello; Yehudit, five-string violin
Two classically trained yet jazz-savvy string players stretch the bounds of their instruments to create a unique approach to jazz standards and original compositions. Beth Snellings, a respected local veteran of symphony orchestras, musical theater, chamber music and jazz ensembles, is a master of musical improvisation, while Yehudit, a tenured San Francisco Ballet Orchestra musician, has also won accolades for helping to establish the electric violin as a bona fide and innovative jazz instrument, headlining venues from Yoshi's to the Lesher Center for the Arts. An evening of jazz like you've never heard it played.
