The Oakland Trio

Laura Goehner-Moreno, piano; Cindy Chen, violin; Michael Graham, cello; Special Guest Bruce Foster, clarinet

Contrasts by Bartók; Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor, Op. 23 by Arensky

Violinist Cindy Chen is an acclaimed recording artist in China, with eight CD collections of her nouveau interpretations of that country’s traditional classics. Pianist Laura Goehner-Moreno has concertized extensively throughout North America, with a CD repertoire that ranges from classical Mexican works to her own compositions. Cellist Michael Graham, a former member of the Chagall String Quartet, has performed with every major Bay Area ensemble since relocating here in 1999. Clarinetist Bruce Foster is a popular and protean Bay Area musician familiar to fans of the New Music Works, Left Coast Chamber Ensemble and the Carmel Bach Festival. This afternoon these distinct musical voices harmonize delightfully, performing works by Bartók and Arensky as The Oakland Trio.
