Temirzhan Yerzhanov burst into prominence in 1993 when, as an unknown pianist representing Kazakhstan he won the First Prize and Gold Medal in one of the musical world's most prestigious contests, the International Schumann Competition. Since then he has forged an estimable career, touring Eastern and Western Europe, Asia and the Far East, and the US. His program tonight ranges from evocations of a rustic Russian idyll to Balakirev's Islamey, Oriental fantasy, a dazzling piano showcase.
