The first great piano quintet by a major composer is joined by Elgar's grand and symphonic quintet, written during the first world war; a work of majesty and beauty, with one of his most beautiful and soul-searching slow movements. Delius' lushly romantic and nostalgic second violin sonata completes the program performed by well-known Bay Area musicians who have already featured prominently in the series.
