Presented by Mark Alburger with members of The San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra and San Francisco Cabaret Opera
Mark Alburger
Early Instruments of Commotion, Desert Bass Rock Place, Of Sidewalks and Stele, and Opera in the Dark
The career of one of the most prolific, influential, protean, and indeed transcendent figures in the Bay Area classical community is celebrated by members of that community in a concert devoted to author, musician, recording artist and eclectic composer Mark Alburger, whose postminimal, postpopular, and postcomedic sensibilities have produced over 800 individual pieces, including 16 concerti, 20 operas, 6 song cycles and 9 symphonies. A Who's Who of local artists present a program of, in his words, "Four syncretist compositions, representing four decades of my activity as a composer."
