Daniel Glover

Improvisation in B-flat minor, Funeral March and Danza festiva by Nicolai Medtner; Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor by Rachmaninoff; The Franciscan Legends, Benediction of God in Solitude and Fantasy on Wagners Rienzi by Liszt.Daniel Glover returns to Old First Concerts with a two-part program of late Romantic Russian works and religiously inspired piano music of Franz Liszt. The concert features three works by Nicolai Medtner, including Improvisation in B-flat minor, Funeral March and Danza festiva. Rachmaninoff’s popular Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor will close the first half of the program in the “Horowitz” version, which combines the original and revised versions from 1913 and 1936. Liszt’s Two Franciscan Legends, Benediction of God in Solitude and Fantasy on Wagner’s Rienzi bring the program to a close. A reception in celebration of Mr. Glover’s birthday will follow the concert.
