Arjun K. Verma, sitar
Nilan Chaudhuri, tabla

Acclaimed by The New York Times and San Francisco Chronicle, Arjun K. Verma presents a traditional yet fresh approach to the sitar. He is joined by distinguished tabla player Nilan Chaudhuri, who has performed on venerated stages such as Carnegie Hall.

Among the classical music traditions of the world, North Indian classical music is one of the heavyweights. Its highly sophisticated and detailed structure dates back several millennia, yet within its modern practice, it allows generous freedom for improvisation as well.

This performance showcases some of the young generation of North Indian Classical music in the tradition of the great maestros Ali Akbar Khan and Swapan Chaudhuri.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
