The festival welcomes father and son duo Liam Teague and Jaden Teague-Núñez in their festival debut, featuring the endlessly varied and colorful music for steelpan and piano.
The 9th annual San Francisco International Piano Festival is proud to present its opening night concert at Old First Concerts, continuing the festival’s long-standing partnership with the series. As the season celebrates a kaleidoscope of international voices, the festival opens with a program featuring works by Samuel Barber, Derek Bermel, and Franz Liszt.
Kitka celebrates the summer solstice and the global release of Kolo, the ensemble’s thirteenth album on their own independent Diaphonica label. Derived from a Proto-Balto-Slavic root, kolo means “circle” or “wheel,” and refers to the spiraling communal line dances found across Eastern Europe. The concert (and album) evokes cosmic cycles of creation, growth, destruction, and renewal—the eternal turning of seasons and the shared rhythms of lives and voices woven together.

Every year we host a concert celebrating the birth of one of the greatest composers of all time—Frédéric Chopin—with acclaimed musicians performing his works. This year we’ll have performances by pianists including Jason Chiu, Omri Shimron, Robert Schwartz, Ariel Chien, Oliver Moore and more! There will be birthday cake and champagne at intermission, too.
