Clarinet Thing – May 10, 2013

Original pieces by members and arrangements of unusual jazz tunes by Jimmie Giuffre, Carla Bley, Thelonius Monk, Eubie Blake, Duke Ellington, Herbie Nichols, Michael Moore, and others all performed on the clarinet family.Clarinet Thing is Sheldon Brown, Ben Goldberg, Harvey Wainapel, and founder Beth Custer. The 2009 Down Beat Critics Poll listed Goldberg as one of the top twelve clarinetists in the world as well and Goldberg and Wainapel as “Rising Stars,” San Francisco Examiner wrote “put your money on Custer for the gold”, and Andy Gilbert wrote ‘When it comes to jazz Brown is among the most versatile and gifted. Also San Francisco Chronicle featured Clarinet Thing calling them ‘a killer quartet that plays a rich woody blend of original music.

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.
