San Francisco's Home for Great Concerts since 1970

Club Glee – Friday, October 5 at 8 pm

Haruo Maruyama, conductor

Club Glee was formed 14 years ago by older alumni of Waseda University’s Glee Club. Average age 74. We practice 3 hours every Sunday. Our repertoire of audience pleasing pop songs is arranged by conductor Haruo Maruyama, a former member of a professional quartet. Besides our own concerts in Tokyo over the years, we’ve shared billing on a dozen programs with Harvard University’s Krokodiloes during their world tours, and we often perform joint concerts with junior high school choirs in Tokyo. After the devastating 2011 earthquake, we’ve held many goodwill concerts in Miyagi and Narita.

We brought our voices to Los Angeles four years ago for a Waseda Alumni gathering, and also sang at a local nursing home, as well as joining a choir group concert. This year we are excited to realize our dream of singing in San Francisco, believing that popular melodies bring heartfelt joy beyond borders and generations.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
