Dennis Finnegan – Old First Concerts

Dennis Finnegan was a student of classical guitar and then a devotee of Latin American and other modern composers before settling into a career arranging and performing jazz standards, epitomized by his CD, Starting from Here. Finnegan’s light, unaffected vocals and the Brazilian feel of his nylon string guitar stylings combine to produce a loose, flowing take on Tin Pan Alley classics, while his own richly atmospheric compositions blend jazz harmonies with Latin rhythms. Tonight he pairs with the accomplished and uncommonly versatile jazz bassist David Laub, a regular performer with Klezmer, Haitian and other diverse ensembles.
