Giacomo Fiore – March 1, 2013

Works by A. J. Kernis, Peter Sculthorpe, Lanier Sammons, Christian Wolff, Anthony Porter, West Coast Premiere by Dai Fujikura, and a World Premiere by Larry Polansky.Join Italian guitarist Giacomo Fiore in an exploration of new and recent music for classical and electric guitar. His multi-faceted program will include selections in different styles from the late 20th and early 21st century, and feature both established and younger composers from the Bay Area and beyond. Equally at home in a variety of musical styles, Italian guitarist Giacomo Fiore has performed professionally across the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Europe, and presented world premieres of pieces by Matthew Grasso, Ron Nagorcka, Larry Polansky, and Lanier Sammons. He has produced three independently-released recordings, and published articles in the Journal of the Society for American Music and ClassicalGuitar.org. Currently Giacomo is a Ph.D. candidate in Cultural Musicology at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he focuses on U.S. experimental music and alternative intonations. He is also especially adept at keeping his biography under one hundred words.
