Jason Chiu explores the powerful connection between feeling and sound in a romantically charged program for solo piano featuring works by Bach-Busoni, Szymanowska, F. Mendelssohn, Chaminade, Ravel, and Beethoven.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Jason Chiu was recently awarded first place in the 2022 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. He has received top prizes in numerous other competitions including first place in the 2019 Bay Area Piano Competition, second place in the 2021 Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition, second place in the 2014 American Protege Piano and Strings Competition, and a third-place award in the 2014 American Prize Competition for his recording of Chopin’s four Ballades. While attending U.C. Berkeley, where he attained his B.A. in Music, Jason performed as a soloist with the University Symphony Orchestra, and was a recipient of the Eisner Award for achievement in the creative arts. He later earned his Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music studying with Sharon Mann. Jennie Windle and Helene Wickett are among the other teachers he’s worked with. Recent appearances include solo performances at Carnegie Hall in New York, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and Old First Concerts in San Francisco, as well as performances with the Kensington Symphony Orchestra and the Saratoga Symphony. Jason maintains an active teaching studio from his home near Berkeley where he resides with his wife along with his two children.

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.
