Ragazzi Boys Chorus

There are as many ways to celebrate Christmas as there are stars in the heavens… Different cultures and ages have had explored and established their own for almost 2,000 years. Some are unique and some are blended. All have been entwined with music and song. Ragazzi Boys Chorus presents Christmas Classics—from tested and true 10th Century Chant to 20th Century instant favorites—and timeless song from in between, all within the broad Western tradition. This program is a poem that heralds the human and the divine; that which is earthly and that which is sacred and how these themes informed the lives of our forebears and illuminate our own. We sing of the mystery and joy that are the warp and weft of song and verse over the last thousand years. We begin with our newest classic, Biebls Ave Maria (20th C.), and pursuing Biebls love of chant, we roll back 1,000 years to Of the Fathers Love Begotten. You will hear works of Jacob Handl (16th C.), Vivaldi, Mozart, Franck, Kodály and many others. We include new arrangements of old carols, Gounods famous adaptation of Bachs simple Prelude, and familiar carols for all to sing. Let this meditation of powerful music—from the simple and direct to elaborate and majestic, from the depths of time to traditional carols—lead you to that place where the seasons true meaning is found. www.ragazzi.org
