These concerts commemorate the 100th anniversary of Scriabin’s death and present his entire sonata cycle by date of composition in order to show the extraordinary development of Scriabin’s compositional style. Program one presents the first three sonatas, as well as Prelude and Nocturne for the left hand alone, Op. 9; Preludes, Op. 16 and other short works which often display Scriabin’s reverence for the music of his idol Chopin.
