Including a gift to Old First Concerts in your estate planning is one of the best ways to support our concerts, and offers the opportunity to expand your legacy to include the music you love.

Old First Concerts expresses its gratitude to legacy donors through the John R. Bodo Legacy Society, named after our original founder who was also an excellent amateur cellist!

Here are two popular types of legacy giving that are available:

Bequests — Completing a will or trust is an important tool to ensure your assets are collected and distributed to family, loved ones, and charity. Benefitting Old First Concerts with a bequest is one of the easiest ways to include us in your planning. Benefits include flexibility as you can change your will or bequest provisions at any time, stability as you control the property during your lifetime, so making a bequest to charity will not impact your standard of living, and importance as a bequest may allow you to make a larger gift to Old First Concerts than would otherwise be possible.

Beneficiary Designation — It is easy, quick and simple to complete or change your beneficiary designation form to benefit Old First Concerts with your IRA, life insurance, and/or other accounts. It may be wise to leave a tax deferred account to Old First Concerts and other assets to loved ones. By donating an IRA or other tax deferred account to Old First Concerts, you could reduce the tax burden on your heirs while making a significant gift to Old First Concerts.

Other options:

  • designating the remainder of a retirement plan, charitable remainder trusts or other planned giving arrangements to Old First Concerts
  • gifts of property such as securities or real estate (usually deductible at their full value, regardless of what was paid for the assets.)
  • a gift annuity
