A piano for Melisa Nieves

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and sometimes it’s hard to know how to help.  Old First Concerts reached out to the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico and they told us the story about one of their rising stars, Melisa Nieves.  Melisa is a fourth-year piano major who is planning to continue on to pursue an advanced degree in piano performance.  The hurricane destroyed her piano to a point beyond repair and she has been left without an instrument.  Old First Concerts and José Lopez have agreed to dedicate his concert on November 19 to helping raise money to help Melisa and the other students at the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico recover from this disaster.  Any contribution is welcome!

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!

If you’d like to consider volunteering with Old First Concerts, please contact for more information.
