Stepping Out with SOTA – January 22, 2016

Stepping Out with SOTA
featuring students from the Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts

The Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts piano and orchestra departments, under the direction of Ava Soifer & Tristan Arnold, present a concert of music for solo & duo piano, chamber music, and chamber orchestra. Students will perform a riveting program featuring selections from Mahler’s arrangement of Death of a Maiden for chamber orchestra, an original string quartet by SOTA student Theo Haber, plus music by Poulenc, Ravel, Brahms, Chopin, & Arutiunian. SOTA is a public arts High School offering free quality arts and academic education since 1982. Students from the music departments have matriculated to conservatories and music programs across the country including Julliard, Oberlin, New England Conservatory, Curtis, USC, Berklee College of Music, UCLA and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
