This passion balances their commitment to reinterpreting contemporary and historic compositions for flute and harp with verve, sensitivity, and enthusiasm. Performing together as a duo since 2002, their collaborations have led them to venues in Asia, Europe, and throughout North America, and most recently include a critically acclaimed recording, Voyage: American Works for Flute and Harp on Albany Records (“… achingly beautiful.†– American Record Guide). Their program includes dazzling and haunting works by Bernard Andrès, Gareth Farr, Marcel Grandjany, Susann McDonald, Stella Sung, Stephen Andrew Taylor, and Linda Wood Rollo as well as the world premiere of a new work by Reynold Tharp, a former Bay Area resident who graduated from UC Berkeley. Their program’s music gains inspiration from the joys of incipient parenthood, to the majesty of waterfalls found throughout the world, to the delicacy of a luscious flower. Both originally from the western US, Jonathan and Ann currently are in residence at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
