Bestiary: Works by Elinor Armer

Etude Quasi Cadenza; Fantasy; Open and Shut; Eine Kleine Snailmusik; Beast; Trout Surviving; and Api Old First happily presents a concert devoted to the compositions of Elinor Armer, a prodigious creative presence on the local musical scene for thirty-seven years as a composer, performer, and teacher. Throughout a career whose highlights range from chairing the S.F. Conservatory’s Composition Department to a musical collaboration with the eminent sci-fi/fantasy author Ursula Le Guin, her work has been synonymous with music that is lively yet thoughtful, playful yet meaningful, and always original and memorable.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
