San Francisco's Home for Great Concerts since 1970

Claire Huangci – February 22, 2014

Co-presented with the San Francisco Chapter of the Chopin FoundationEvery year the Chopin Foundation celebrates Chopin’s birthday with a concert by a distinguished pianist. In the past we have welcomed such pianists as Gabriela Montera (who played at President Obama’s inauguration), Garrick Ohlsson, Kevin Kenner and many other artists from around the world. This year they present Claire Huangci, one of the most sought-after pianists of her generation. With her technical brilliance, deep musical expression, playful virtuosity and her keen sensibility, she captures her audiences all over the world. A special companion to her musical development has been the music of Frédéric Chopin. Over the years, her special bond with Chopin has deepened even further, having won First Prize at the 2009 International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Germany, as well as the First and Special Prize at the 2010 International Chopin Competition in Miami. Thanks to these achievements, Claire Huangci is already regarded as one of the premiere Chopin interpreters of her generation.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
