Clarinet Trios by Beethoven & Brahms
Trio No. 4 in B flat major, Op. 11, ‘Gassenhauer-Trio by Beethoven; Trio in A minor, Op. 114 by Brahms; US Premiere of Sapphische Strophen by Karl Michael KommaRebecca Rust and Friedrich Edelmann have been steadily earning favorable reviews for their adventurous programming, from premiering newly discovered works banned and destroyed by the Nazi regime to commissioning works from contemporary composers. For their return to Old First Concerts, they present two classic trios by Beethoven and Brahms alongside the US Premiere of German composer Karl Michael Kommas Sapphische Strophen for bassoon, ‘cello and piano. They are joined by acting principal clarinetist with the San Francisco Opera Jerome Simas and Bay Area pianist Dmitriy Cogan.
