Carl Schimmel The Pismirists Congeries (winner of the Lee Ettelson Composers Award) Eric Lindsay So I Want To Write A Piece About John CageRobert Greenberg Funny Like a MonkeyDon Freund Rough and TumbleDavid Waugh Mystical Phantom Kick TechniqueComposers, Inc. was formed in 1984 to present the music of living American composers, to sustain this vital part of our culture and to increase public awareness of it. Featured on this program is the World Premiere performance by the Adorno Ensemble of Eric Lindsays 2010 Koussevitzky Award-winning work So I Want To Write A Piece About John Cage. In Eric Lindsays words, “So I Want To Write A Piece About John Cage is not merely about the continuation of Cages ideas in an era so markedly different from 50 years ago, but moreover about the concept of influence, itself. In this case, my music is used as a singular example of a possible incarnation of Cagean philosophies, where the exploration of unfamiliar relationships of space and time are distinguishing characteristics.” Also on the program is the Lee Ettelson Composers Award winning work The Pismirists Congeries by Carl Schimmel, and works by Robert Greenberg, Don Freund, and David Waugh. www.composersinc.org
