Composers, Inc. 2011–12 season opens with Locals Only, a celebration of local stylistic variety and excellence in the music of San Francisco Bay Area composers. Works to be heard include David Jaffes Cluck Cluck Hen Variations for solo violin, Ken Uenos La Mere for flute and marimba, Nicolas Vasallos Collapsing Obsidian Suns for string trio, a string quartet by Belinda Reynolds, Stephanie Websters Agues for oboe, violin, and percussion, and Mark Applebaums percussion trio Catfish. As a special treat, the program will also feature the stunning Artists Vocal Ensemble performing Frank La Roccas Credo under the direction of Jonathan Dimmock. Founded in 1984 and since cementing its position as a leader of contemporary music performance presentations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Composers, Inc.s mission is dedicated to presenting new music by living American composers. www.composersinc.org
