Kreith-Yi Duo – Old First Concerts

Benjamin Kreith and Ann Yi, well known to San Francisco audiences for their brilliant performances of contemporary works, team up for a program of lyricism, color and invention. They will present a world premier by Christopher Wendell Jones and the first US performance of Sam Nichols Wrackâ€”in which some things go horribly awry. These Bay Area compositions will be flanked by the sweeping oceanic force and tenderness of Shostakovichs Violin Sonata, written as a 60th birthday gift for David Oistrakh, and the unmatched loveliness of Brahms’ â€˜Rain Sonata in G Major, Op. 78.
