4/2 Recital, or “four two”, is a new piano recital format created by Duo Ama in 2006, where the Brazilian pianists Angela Passos and Mayer Goldenberg perform duo and solo pieces, promoting Brazilian classical music and the composers who influenced them.

Angela Passos, a young Brazilian pianist, was born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. She began her piano studies at the age of 7 with the Brazilian teacher and composer Laura Pumar (Magda Tagliaferro‘s and Jacques Klein’s pupil) then continuing with the teacher Cely Periard during the technical course at the Conservatory of Music of the State of Rio de Janeiro. She has a degree in piano performance at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) under the guidance of teacher and pianist Tamara Ujakov, and completed her education attending master classes and courses with important international pianists, including Arnaldo Cohen, Richard Raymond, Rudolf Kherer, Michael Ude, Moderhay Simony, Roberto Bravo, Pavel Nercessian, and many others. She has performed in recitals, concerts and recordings in South America, USA and Europe, such as Sala Cecília Meirelles, Leopoldo Miguez Great Hall, Museum of Modern Art (MAM), UFF Theatre, and the Municipal Theater of Niterói, all in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the Auditorium Cultura Inglesa (São Paulo), Castro Alves Theater (Bahia), Hoslclaw Hall (USA), Sala Roma (Italy), London Palace (Vienna), Teatro del Viejo Consejo (Argentina) and others.

In 2012 she had a concert tour in Italy, solo and along with Duo AMA, performing the opening recital of the International Festival Mondi Sonori in Senago/Milan. In the same year, she graduated at the prestigious Wiener Meisterkurse in Vienna, under supervision of the pianist Alexander Jenner. In 2014, she participated with a scholarship of the Encuentro de Piano Mercosur (EPI) held in Bariloche and the Camino del Santo Festival at San Isidro, both in Argentina. In 2015 she was selected with a merit award at the prestigious Miami International Summer Piano Festival and performed at the Festival Internazionale di Musica in Rovello Porro, Italy. In 2016, performed at the San Francisco Steinway Piano Gallery and made her annual European tour with Duo AMA, performing a tour in Germany as well as at the Brazilian Embassy in Paris. In 2016 and 2017, she organized and participated as Curator and Pianist for Semana Internacional de Piano Festival, held in Rio de Janeiro, performing at the prestigious hall Sala Cecilia Meireles. Nowadays, she does classes of high musical interpretation and piano performance with the international pianist Licia Lucas. She is a piano professor at the Conservatory of Music of the State of Rio de Janeiro and at AMA Piano Studio in Rio de Janeiro.

Mayer Goldenberg, a young Brazilian pianist was born in Rio de Janeiro. From Russian and Romanian family, he began his piano studies at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. He studied with Noemi Seckler (Brazilian conductor) and Denise Borborema (Brazilian composer), then continued his studies with the pianist Nivaldo Tavares, from whom he acquired the principles of Russian technique. He also studied Bachelor of Piano at UFRJ under the guidance of pianist Sonia Goulart (pupil of Yakov Zak, Bruno Seidlhofer and Stefan Askenase). He Completed his education attending master classes and courses with renowned international pianists: Arnaldo Cohen, Menahen Pressler, Michail Ude, Edson Elias, Michele Campanella, and many others. He has performed in recitals, concerts and recordings in South America, USA and Europe, such as: Leopoldo Miguez Great Hall, Sala Cecília Meireles, UFF Theatre (Niterói), Sala Villa Lobos, Auditorium Brasílio Itiberê (Curitiba), Cultural Space Chapel Santa Maria (Curitiba), English Culture Auditorium (Sao Paulo), Pacheco Theatre (Uberlandia), Centro Cultural San Carles (Spain), Hoslclaw Hall (USA), Sala Roma (Italy), Palacio Albrizzi (Italy), London Palace (Vienna), Teatro del Viejo Concejo (Argentina), among others. He worked with conductors such as Ligia Amadio, Ernani Aguiar and Andre Cardoso. In 2007 Goldenberg was elected by the Brazilian series Musica no Museu as one of 10 best young classical musicians in the music scene in his country and participated in the Brazil-Germany Festival in 2009. He has prizes in piano competitions such as: the International Piano Competition Artlivre (2008), the International Young Talent Competition Artlivre (2009), Piano Competition Souza Lima (2009), among others. In 2010 he was the only Brazilian pianist selected for the International Piano Competition in Eivissa (Spain). In 2012 had a concert tour in Italy, solo and along with Duo AMA, performing the opening recital of the international festival Mondi Sonori in Senago/ Milan, and had been presented by the Italian association Dino Ciani. In the same year he graduated at the prestigious Wiener Meisterkurse in Vienna, conducted by the pianist Alexander Jenner. In 2014, he participated with a scholarship of the Encuentro de Piano Mercosur (EPI) held in Bariloche and the Camino del Santo Festival at San Isidro, both in Argentina. In 2015 was selected with a merit award at the prestigious Miami International Summer Piano Festival and performed at the Festival Internazionale di Musica in Rovello Porro, Italy. In 2016, performed at the San Francisco Steinway Piano Gallery and made his annual European tour with his Duo AMA, performing a tour in Germany as well as at the Brazilian Embassy in Paris. In 2016 and 2017, he organized and participated as artistic director and Pianist for semana Internacional de Piano Festival, performing at the prestigious halls Cidade das Artes and Sala Cecilia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro. Since 2006, along with the pianist and his wife Angela Passos, has the Duo AMA, a project focused on classic Brazilian music and composers who influenced it. Currently, he does classes of high musical interpretation and piano performance with the international pianist Licia Lucas, is dedicated to his piano class at AMA Piano Studio in Rio de Janeiro and is getting ready for his next annual concert tour.
