Halfway Mark, a 50th Anniversary Retrospective

Early Instruments of Commotion, Desert Bass Rock Place, Of Sidewalks and Stele, and Opera in the Dark
The career of one of the most prolific, influential, protean, and indeed transcendent figures in the Bay Area classical community is celebrated by members of that community in a concert devoted to author, musician, recording artist and eclectic composer Mark Alburger, whose postminimal, postpopular, and postcomedic sensibilities have produced over 800 individual pieces, including 16 concerti, 20 operas, 6 song cycles and 9 symphonies. A Who’s Who of local artists present a program of, in his words, “Four syncretist compositions, representing four decades of my activity as a composer.”

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
