Hyunchae Kim

Kayageum virtuoso, Hyun-chae Kim, will make her American debut in a solo concert of works for kayageum (a Korean zither-like instrument). The program will have both traditional and new Korean music including recent work by Kim herself and Bay Area composer Hyo-shin Na. Ms. Kim is a young musician from Korea who has performed solo concerts juxtaposing traditional and contemporary works for kayageum throughout Asia and Europe, and has been a member of the traditional Korean instrument ensemble JeongGaAkHoe, which specializes in playing traditional vocal and instrumental chamber music as well as commissioning new works. For this concert, Hyo-shin Na has composed two new works, Song of the Firewood and Kayageum Song.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
