“Among San Francisco’s many musical blessings, count the sensitivity, wit and inventive bounty of jazz pianist Mike Greensill.†Steven Winn, S.F. ChronicleFor two decades Mike Greensill has performed with long-time friend and mentor Dean Reilly in countless live appearances and on numerous CDs with Mike’s wife, vocalist extraordinaire Wesla Whitfield. This afternoon, they present a series of intimate duets for piano and bass and piano and pocket trumpet—so named because it could almost fit in one, and producing a sound, said jazz great Don Cherry, “like a dry martini”—the perfect instrument for San Francisco. The program features selections from the Great American Songbook, with emphasis on Duke Ellington, along with Mike’s own original works.
