New Works for Gayageum and Western Instruments

World and US Premieres of works by David Evan Jones, Andrew Imbrie, Hi Kyung Kim, John Sackett, Yu-Hui Chang, Young-Ja Lee and Sung-Kim
If you haven’t yet done so, O1C invites you to discover the charms of the gayageum, a traditional, 12-stringed Korean instrument whose origins trace to the first century BC, and whose soft, delicate and subtle tone has been associated with Korean court and chamber music. Two virtuosos of this timeless, zitherlike instrument join the members of the ever innovative and dynamic new-music force, Ensemble Parallèle, in a program that features several world and US premiere performances.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
