S.F.P.Q.’s new and exciting way of presenting chamber music repertoire in their Six Degrees series explores the six degrees of separation of Dvorák’s time in the US and how he influenced a new generation of American composers. Using Dvorák’s Piano Quartet in E flat major, Op. 87 as a point of departure, Avi Downes will narrate the program, drawing connections between Dvorák’s work and compositions by Harry Burleigh, George Gershwin, Rebecca Clarke, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein and Sam Bass.
