Audiences may expect to hear musical styles ranging from the Neo-Romantic to Serial, Neo-Classical to Improvisatory, Minimalist to Totalist … just to name a few. Since our first concert in March 2002, the SFCCO has premiered a flurry of new and vital works, more than any other orchestra in the Bay Area. SFCCO was created by composers on a mission to build new audiences for new music in San Francisco while also cultivating local composers writing for more-or-less a traditional orchestra. Our concert series exemplifies the diversity of new music in the Bay Area as well as the creative threads that bind them together, creating, we hope, a sound that is uniquely San Francisco.

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
