Seventeen noted musicians from the Bay Area and beyond unite to celebrate Franz Liszts birthday with a feast of keyboard virtuosity and romantic expression in an all-Liszt program including brilliant transcriptions of Mozart, Schumann and Bach, selections from the Years of Pilgrimage. Soprano Rebecca Plack, winner of the vocal division of the Los Angeles Liszt Competition, will offer a selection of some of his lesser-known German lieder. Also, in observance of the 50th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution (October 23, 1956), a special portion of the program will be devoted to his works of Hungarian inspiration, including the Hungarian Rhapsodies Nos 11 & 12, Funérailles and the rousing Rádóczy March. A reception will follow the concert.
