Sarah Cahill

Sonata and Scherzo by Marc Blitzstein; Walk in Beauty by Peter Garland; Three Rags by James Tenney; Private Dances by Kyle Gann; Pondok by Evan Ziporyn.Sarah Cahill performs two rarely-heard compositions by Marc Blitzstein, including his 1927 Piano Sonata and 1930 Scherzo, in preparation for a Blitzstein recording on the Other Minds label. Best known for his opera The Cradle Will Rock and other music theater works, Blitzstein studied with both Nadia Boulanger and Arnold Schoenberg, and was an excellent pianist. Sarah also performs two pieces written for her: a suite of dances by Kyle Gann, and the gamelan-inspired Pondok by Evan Ziporyn, as well as tonal works by Garland and Tenney.
