Don’t miss this chance to meet Hank Dutt, violist of the Kronos Quartet, with a contemporary program ranging from classics of the 1970s by Philip Glass and Meredith Monk to the West Coast premiere of John Harbison’s Sonata for Viola and Piano.
The Bay Area’s first and only quintet dedicated to the Cuban musical style known as “charanga” focus on the lyrical and timeless instrumental form of Cuban music known as the danzon, a style born in the late 19th century from the “French Trio”, for this special performance.
Helia Music Collective presents violinist Robert Simonds for an evening of contemporary music for solo violin by American women, exploring the influences of the Baroque era, the Renaissance, and folk music by some of today’s most dynamic composers, including Missy Mazzoli, Cindy Cox, Patricia Van Ness, TJ Cole, Molly Joyce, Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer, Alexis Bacon, and a new work by Helia co-founder Emma Logan.
