Mike and Denise will delve into all the treasures of the American Songbook, with a special emphasis on Duke Ellington. This is music in its purest form, just piano and vocal. It’s jazz performance art, like working without a net.
Sitarist Arjun Verma is joined by Nilan Chaudhuri on tabla in a performance of North Indian Classical music, one of the deepest and most sophisticated musical traditions of the world.
The Musical Art Quintet perform Sascha Jacobsen’s Kanta Judezmo, an oratorio using Jewish melodic themes with motifs and rhythms from Spain, North Africa, the Middle East, and South America, that tells the story about the Sephardic diaspora through the lens of its central female character, with universal threads that traverse centuries, borders, language, culture and genre.
Known for their powerful sound and profound unity of ensemble, Ensemble Illume perform Saariaho’s Je sens un deuxième cœur, plus Brahms’ Trio in A minor and a Mozart Duo.
