Celebrating the composer James Cleghorn, best known as music librarian for 25 years at the San Francisco Public Library, with a selection from his dazzling range of piano music, including sets of variations intricate fugues, neoclassical suites, modal experiments, and much more, all with a special focus on melodic invention—many never heard before.
Award-winning duo N Blanco Y Negro are joined by violinist Jennifer Redondas in an eclectic program including a US Premiere by Carlota Garriga alongside works by José White Lafitte, Jason McCauley, Dvořák, Schubert, Fauré, Say, Rachmaninoff, and Piazzolla.

Challenging the audience to broaden its concept of music with new emotional and auditory experiences, Earplay performs the World Premiere of stellar Chilean-American composer Miguel Chuaqui’s Ad Hoc, West Coast Premieres by Suzanne Sorkin and Yotam Haber, and works by Kaija Saariaho and Ines Thiebaut.
In celebration of Rachmaninoff’s 150th year, the Festival Finale includes a selection of solo piano works, including his Second Sonata—followed by a screening of Buster Keaton’s riotous 1927 College with an original score for piano quintet by Stephen Prutsman.
