World Premiere of Jon Jang’s new work, A Chinaman’s Chance, A Choy’s Chance!, in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the US built by Chinese immigrant workers.

This special performance of Olivier Messiaen’s wartime classic, Quartet for the End of Time, will include projected visual art and lighting during the performance, a presentation of the story of the creation of this dramatic work in a Nazi prison camp in 1940, and videos and photographs showing Messiaen’s direct use of birdsong, color effects, and Catholic imagery and references in his music.
On the occasion of being named a 2018 New Music Champion by the American Composers Forum, Sarah Cahill, performs a program of pieces she has commissioned or have been otherwise dedicated to her, including music by John Adams, Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, Meredith Monk, Ingram Marshall, Annea Lockwood, Phil Kline, and Samuel Adams.
