Widely regarded as the most important composer of the 20th century, Claude Debussy remains one of the most beloved composers in the classical music universe. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the composer’s death, Old First Concerts is presenting a 4-concert Centennial Festival in 2018, a rare opportunity to hear a great deal of his highly unique musical legacy composed in just 30 years. The Festival presents an opportunity to hear many of the composer’s masterpieces in their entirety performed by the Bay Area’s most celebrated pianists, singers, and instrumentalists.

This concert features Pour le piano, the complete Images Books I & II, Estampes, Suite bergamasque, Salut printemps, and more! The next concert in the Festival is July 6 and features the complete set of 24 Preludes, Books I & II with pianists Christopher Basso, Daniel Glover, Jeffrey LaDeur, Keisuke Nakagoshi, and Robert Schwartz. The fourth and final concert in the Festival, co-presented with the San Francisco International Piano Festival, is August 24 and will feature a variety of works for piano and chamber ensemble, including Etudes Book I, En blanc et noir, Violin Sonata, Cello Sonata and more. Performers for the final concert include pianists for the New Piano Collective with special guests violinist Liana Bérubé and cellist Michelle Kwon.  Thanks to R. Kassman, Purveyor of Fine Pianos for sponsoring this four concert event.
