Music, Thou Soul of Heaven

Mélodies passagères by Samuel Barber; The Faucon (settings by Pinkham, George Walker and John Edmunds); Two by Marianne Moore by Virgil Thompson; Another Sleep by Ned Rorem; Three Latin Motets by Daniel Pinkham; Cantique by Nadia Boulanger; Psaumes by Arthur HoneggerSven Olbash pays tribute to Daniel Pinkham by performing the late composers songs alongside those of his teachers and colleagues. Hailing from Pinkhams native Lynn, Massachusetts, Olbash championed his works as both singer and organist before having the opportunity to study with the maestro at New England Conservatory. The program features the first known West Coast performance of Ned Rorems Another Sleep (original 1951 version).

Old First Concerts has volunteer opportunities available!

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
