Sqwonk & Crafty Apples

Program includes works by Dan Becker, Ian Dicke, Damon Waitkus, Jon Russell, and J.S. Bach.Sharing the bill tonight are two unique new music groups, Sqwonk and Crafty Apples. Sqwonk, so-named as an approximation of the sound and character of their duo bass clarinet sound, perform music that is at once fierce, vital and humorous, including newly commissioned works and transcriptions of pieces from the standard repertoire. Crafty Apples will perform selections from I-108, written in collaboration for an experimental animation with local artist Mark Wilson, moody, textural, minimalist chamber music that seamlessly blends composition and improvisation.
