Brahms Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet in B minor, Op. 115Mozart Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet in A major, KV 581Since the Hausmann Quartet’s formation in the summer of 2004 at LyricaFest in New Jersey, they have been acquiring a reputation as one of the great young quartets performing today. Praised for their charismatic playing and “marvelously rich tone”, the quartet made their debut on the Lyrica Boston Chamber Music series and was soon named Lyrica Boston’s Young Artists in Residence. Since then the quartet has performed at numerous festivals, television and radio programs, and concert halls throughout the US. They are currently the Joseph Fisch/Joyce Axelrod Resident String Quartet at San Diego State University, with a concurrent affiliation sponsored by the La Jolla Music Society. They are joined by Bay Areas own Michael Edwards, recognized as one of the worlds leading exponents of the clarinet, in a rare chance to hear the two monumental quintets for clarinet and string quartet of Mozart and Brahms on the same program.
