Quinteto La Moderna – Friday, November 8 at 8 pm

The Bay Area’s first and only quintet dedicated to the Cuban musical style known as “charanga” focus on the lyrical and timeless instrumental form of Cuban music known as the danzon, a style born in the late 19th century from the “French Trio”, for this special performance.

Helia Music Collective presents violinist Robert Simonds for an evening of contemporary music for solo violin by American women, exploring the influences of the Baroque era, the Renaissance, and folk music by some of today’s most dynamic composers, including Missy Mazzoli, Cindy Cox, Patricia Van Ness, TJ Cole, Molly Joyce, Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer, Alexis Bacon, and a new work by Helia co-founder Emma Logan.

Often known as the ‘Raga Pianist’, Utsav Lal successfully blends his diverse influences from western classical, jazz and North Indian classical music into original works praised for their sincerity, simplicity and depth.

Circadian String Quartet – Friday, November 15 at 8 pm

The Circadian String Quartet teams up with Iranian-born Santour virtuoso Hamid Taghavi in a cross-cultural exchange not to be missed, exploring themes of coming together and Yeganegi, or uniting in times of crisis, with music by Reza Vali, Sahba Aminikia, and Hamid Taghavi, representing two generations of Persian-American composers.

Our concerts rely on the generosity of volunteers to assist with simple tasks like:

ushering

distributing programs

box office

set-up and clean-up

Scheduling is flexible — you choose when to work! We especially need helping hands for our Friday and Saturday night performances.

An excellent opportunity for students, seniors, or anyone who possesses a love for music!
