This special performance of Olivier Messiaen’s wartime classic, Quartet for the End of Time, will include projected visual art and lighting during the performance, a presentation of the story of the creation of this dramatic work in a Nazi prison camp in 1940, and videos and photographs showing Messiaen’s direct use of birdsong, color effects, and Catholic imagery and references in his music.
