| Jonathon Fischer Jonathan Fischer currently serves as Associate Principal Oboe of the San Francisco Symphony. A native of South Carolina, Jonathan Fischer graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music, in Philadelphia, in 1992, where he was a student of Richard Woodhams. Prior to joining the San Francisco Symphony, Mr. Fischer held the position of Assistant Principal Oboe with the Cleveland Orchestra. Other posts include Principal Oboe with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Grant Park Symphony and the Canadian Opera Company. Mr. Fischer has also held positions with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, as well as the Santa Fe Opera Company in New Mexico. Mr. Fischer has appeared as Guest Principal with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. He has performed recitals throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Australia, Costa Rica and at the Binational Center of Nicaragua in 1993. He has taught at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, as well as at Oberlin College. He is now on the faculty at San Francisco State University.
