Katherine Kyme

After U.C.Berkeley for her B.A. and Yale University for her Masters, Katherine joined the Seattle Symphony and the string faculties of the Cornish Institute of Allied Arts and the University of the Puget Sound. She met her husband in the snow of Mt. Ranier, (officially, in the violin section of the symphony,) and he convinced her to abandon Seattle and live in Vienna for a year to study Baroque Violin. Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra was just forming at that time, and now in addition to PBO, she plays with American Bach Soloists, the Streicher Trio, String Circle and many other chamber music groups, winning many prizes and making over three dozen recordings. On Sundays, she conducts the string division (three separate orchestras) of the California Youth Symphony, and, whenever possible, is an enthusiastic water dog, sailing, kayaking and swimming around the Bay and up and down the California coast.
