Pianist Temirzhan Yerzhanov made a sensation when representing an unknown Kazakhstan he won the First Prize and Gold Medal at one of the most prestigious contests in the world - The Xlth International Schumann Competition in Zwickau, Germany in 1993. Since then he forged a substantial career. His tours covered Germany, Russia, Kazakhstan, France, Italy, Switzerland, UK, Czech Republic, India, China and US. As a soloist, he played with the Kazakh Philharmonic Orchestra, Zwickauer Philharmonisches, Soloists of Moscow Radio Tchaikovsky Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, Kazakh Abai Opera, San Luis Obispo Symphony, Samara Philharmonic, New American Chamber Orchestra, Astana National Opera and other orchestras. Some of the noted venues he played in include Moscow Conservatory's Grand, Small and Rachmaninov Halls, Berlin Konzerthaus and Leipzig Gewandhaus, Schumann and Tchaikovsky Memorial Houses, Zwickau Neue Welte, Paris Chopin-Pleyel, Moscow and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Halls, New York Merkin Hall and Bombei National Performing Center. Deutsche Radio Berlin aired Mr. Yerzhanov's studio recording and concert from Dresden Zempergalerie throughout Europe.

Other media as Kazakh State TV and Radio, BBC Radio, Radio Freedom - Free Europe, Khabar TV, Russian State TV Culture Channel, Capital Radio Sacramento, KCBX Public Radio, Radio Hong Kong also broadcasted his performances.

In 2001, the Russian label RCD released his first solo recording of Schumann works.
Temirzhan Yerzhanov's music activities enjoy a vast compass. He is known for his passionate devotion to vocal and chamber music, performing with many musicians and singers. His contribution to the Kazakhstan arts is significant. He was the first pianist who represented this country internationally. Almost every concert there marked with some national premiere. Among them - Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and jubilee recital, Prokofiev. Almaty. 1942-1943, featuring all the piano scores that Prokofiev wrote during his residency in those years.

Born in Almaty, Mr. Yerzhanov studied since his early years in Moscow at the Central Music School and later graduated there from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Professor Mikhail Voskressensky. As a faculty member of his alma mater, Mr. Yerzhanov had his students to win such major piano competitions as Queen Elisabeth in Brussels, Tchaikovsky in Moscow, Viana da Motta in Macao, AXA in Dublin, Geza Anda in Zurich, competitions in Epinal and Porto.

He has been living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2002 and has been a jury member of the US Open Music Competition in Oakland annually. His recent and future engagements include Double Concerto by Chausson in Bombay and Pune, India, recitals, radio broadcasts and master classes in Hong Kong and at Yantai University, China, master classes and recital at Western Washington University at Bellingham, Rachmaninov’s Second Concerto with San Luis Obispo Symphony, recitals at CalArts Institute in Valencia, with Old First Concerts in San Francisco, Mill Valley Chamber Music Society, tours to Germany and with West Kazakhstan Philharmonic Orchestra.
